Welcome to day 5 of my Living Well with SIBO Journey: 5-Week Challenge.
Today, I’ll be sharing with you some information about Pharmaceuticals and Nutrition. We’re going to have a deep dive on these two topics on week 2 and 3, but let’s briefly talk about why becoming aware of your nutrition and medication is important.
A common mistake we make is losing connection with our bodies. If we’re experiencing a painful gut problem, our initial reaction would be to look for medicines to relieve our symptoms.
We tend to mask our symptoms with over-the-counter or prescription or medication.
Although antibiotics or other medicines can really help you, you still need to tune in and listen to the signals from your body.
Ask yourself, are those pharmaceuticals really helping your recovery, or hindering it? Having the right treatment in place can significantly reduce the amount of time it will take you to return to health.
Expanding your nutrition
You need to do more than just pop a few pills to kill off the excess bacteria. Expanding your nutrition is an important aspect of your journey. Your nutritional requirements change over time and what you can’t eat today might be something you can eat in the future.
Like what I shared on day 3, tracking your daily nutritional intake aids in regaining awareness. But aside from that, you also need to experiment with different foods and work out what you can and cannot tolerate.
There are several SIBO diets that can help you, but take note that diet alone will not cure SIBO. It may only help relieve your symptoms.
